REVIEW

Thinking of buying a good guitar but low on budget ?? Well here is a guitar for you. Aria STG 006 is a inexpensive guitar but of a great quality.
Aria is a japanese pioneer in guitar making and has been around since
1953. It's known for mass production of quality guitars. As the guitars are mass produced therefore their price is relatively low. Cliff Burton of Metallica used an Aria SB Black N Gold I as well as an SB-1000 bass but was never an official endorser. He has a posthumous "Signature Model" (his name is not mentioned on the Aria site) called the SB-CB produced in Korea.
STG series include Stratocaster type models with low price. STG 006 costs around $ 180 ( Rs. 9000).

Built
STG 006 is a typical stratocaster looking. It has very nice finishing and looks as if it's a very expensive model!!! I have a metallic maroon coloured one and I just love the finishing. It's a bit heavy then other guitars but that isn't a big problem.

It has: -
  • 22 frets on a dark rosewood fretboard
  • Maple neck
  • 2 OH-1 humbucker pickups and 1 OS-single coil pickup (H-S-H)
  • 2 tone controls and a volume control
  • 5-way selector switch
  • A pick up splitter toggle

 Sound and Performance

Sound -
Well I play almost all generes. I use this guitar on both clean and distortion modes and honestly the sound is great. I play songs of  Beatles, Eric clapton, AC/DC, G n' R , Bryan adam etc. and they sound pretty good. You can get a evil sound out of it. Few days back I was playing Highway to hell and I was very impressed by it.
The best thing is that the guitar is very versatile too and ideal for a beginner. It's bridge humbucker pickup can be changed to single coiled pick up. So u don't have to chose between single coil and humbucker as this guitar offers you both.

Better tuning keys -
One of the major problem with guitars in this range is that their tuning keys are not good and they go out of tune after playing 1 or 2 songs. I've seen this problem in Ibanez Gio series and low end yamaha guitars. But this guitar has no such problem. It stays tuned through an entire session.

  Verdict
I can not say that it is the best guitar because then Slash and Eric Clapton will kill me as there are great models of Stratocaster , Les Paul , SG stc. but considering the price, yes it is the best model. It is very versatile, looks and sounds professional and would not burn a big hole in your pocket.

You can check some other guitars in Aria STG series. If you are a Les Paul fan then look out for a basic Epiphone Les Pauls. They are at almost same price but lacks a tremolo bar. Same goes for basic epiphone SG (which will cost a little more). And u will still not get the high end Gibson effects.

In nutshell it is the best guitar considering the price..... :)
